I took these two shots this morning to demonstrate something. The first one is shot at 17mm from very close to the church. The second was shot from 33mm from much further away. I wanted to show the difference.

So sure, a very wide lens will allow you to take a wide shot from up close, and sometimes that’s what you need. But it’s not always the best shot.
